About Us

We are Helen, Lisa and Janet, born and bred in Manchester – a lawyer, a financier and engineer in a former life. As the third generation of women restaurateurs following in the footsteps of our amazing grandmother, Lily Kwok and our beautiful mother Mabel, opening Sweet Mandarin is a dream come true. There is a Chinese saying “To the ruler, the people are Heaven, to the people food is Heaven”.
The best way to describe us would be – passionate about food, passionate about people and passionate about business.
We are young, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic about food and entertainment and have an understanding of Chinese culture. Our values and beliefs revolve around being the next generation to make an impact and bringing the best of both worlds together.
We hold regular Twitter events (Tweet Ups), Flickr events and Rich Dad Poor Dad Cashflow Games at Sweet Mandarin. These are free to attend and a great way to meet new and old likeminded friends. For more information, sign up to our newsletter.
A documentary of the women behind Sweet Mandarin (Lily Kwok, Mabel Tse, Helen, Lisa and Janet Tse) on the Chinese Channel shown in 44 countries. In Cantonese and English. For more information go to www.sweetmandarin.com Buy the book on Amazon.
